Sight Unseen: New Works by Women Artists

Call for Artists!

Siren Nation invites women artists in the Pacific Northwest to enter work to be shown in our November 2012 exhibition, entitled “Sight Unseen: New Works by Women Artists”. The theme of this exhibition is open to broad interpretation and intended to celebrate and inspire emerging work.

Forty selected works will be shown at the Albina Press, 5012 SE Hawthorne Blvd during the month of November 2012. Show opens Thursday, November 8th at the Albina Press on SE Hawthorne Blvd in Portland, Oregon. This show is part of The Siren Nation Women’s Music and Arts Festival which also features musical performance and a film festival.

The curatorial committee is open to reviewing all types of paintings, fiberwork, photographic and other artistic media, 2D, wired for hanging. The work will be displayed in a community art situation, so please exercise discretion in the areas of sexuality and violence.   ”Hang ready” means that it is not so heavy or enormous that it would be difficult to hang in a coffee shop environment.  Weight is generally a bigger challenge for us than size.  If you have questions, please ask.

We may be able to take more than one piece from each artist depending on space.  We are more likely to accept more than one piece if they are smaller in size and/or harmonize in some way with each other. Selections will be juried by committee.

All artists receive 80% of the value of all art sold. The venue takes 20 % commission.
Please include contact information (including your website if you happen to have one) and a picture of the work you are submitting or planning.

For more information please visit our website at www.sirennation.org/info

Please contact Tex at visualarts@sirennation.org

All submissions must be received by October 1, 2012.
All art must ready to hang and received by November 7, 2012.
